References and further reading
- Type-specific volume models align with the HG/T 20592—2009-family flange mass estimation workbook (2015-03-27 reviewed).
- Fastener length: /tools/flange-fastener. Blind stress thickness: /tools/blind-flange (separate duties).
- Published pack: flange-mass-dims.hgt20592_workbook.v1 (HG/T 20592—2009 geometry, pipe Series A / series I; workbench). HG Series B and GB/ASME packs planned.
Model assumptions
- Axisymmetric geometry; bolt holes deducted as cylinders; no draft, ovality, or machining allowance.
- Single user density; no temperature correction or alloy mixing law.
- The published pack maps to HG/T 20592—2009 (rows from the 2015-03-27 reviewed mass workbook) with pipe OD for Series A (series I) only. HG flanges have Series A/B (I/II) only — no Series C/III; Series B and GB/ASME packs are not published yet. Geometry estimates may differ from vendor mass—engineering screening only.

FAQ
- Why not use handbook nominal mass only?
- Nominal mass is also approximate; dims × density stays explainable, covers non-standard parts, and prepares for future packs.
- Can results be used for purchasing settlement?
- No. Results are engineering screening only; contracts and weighbridge/certificates govern settlement.
- Which standards are supported now?
- Pack autofill currently maps to HG/T 20592—2009 for pipe Series A (series I) only. HG flanges have Series A/B only (no Series C/III); Series B, GB, and ASME will follow. Without a pack, pick a flange category and enter critical dimensions for volume × density.
