Model assumptions
- Default presets cover phase-change (steam condensing on shell) and no-phase-change (sensible shell-side) alumina digestion cases.
- §3 fouling uses geometry-based rw = D1 ln(D1/Di)/(2λ), scaling ri = δi/κi, and a direct shell-side ro input — not the falling-film fixed fouling presets.
- UTC counts parallel unit trains from one split stream; use 1 when there is no split flow.
- Derived rows before the final U section (§2–7 with phase change, §2–8 without) fold by default; licensed users expand per section. Free tier keeps inputs and primary results only (§8 U/HTC with phase change, §9 U without).

Frequently asked questions
- Phase-change vs no-phase-change?
- Phase-change uses shell steam condensation correlations with optional non-condensable derating. No-phase-change uses forced-convection shell-side ho with manual shell fluid properties.
- Why are some rows hidden on the free tier?
- Derived geometry, fouling breakdown, shell condensate props, tube-side Re/Pr/h branches, and the full 1/U expansion match the plant Excel template and require a Pro unlock. After Calculate, licensed users see every row in handbook order with formula/selection notes.
