Flat cover vs blind plate — scope of this calculator
This tool covers vessel/piping flat covers attached per Table 6.6.1 (50316), Table 7-9 constant-K or m-iteration rows (150.3), or UG-34. It does not implement chart lookup from GB/T 150.3 Figures 7-23/7-24. Blind plates between two flanges use a different formula (GB 50316 §6.7.2) on the blind-flange calculator.
Model assumptions
- Elastic plate theory; allowable stress and joint factors are user-supplied.
- GB 50316: K₁ and η from Table 6.6.1 geometry or manual override.
- GB/T 150.3: chart-based cover types excluded; opening reinforcement not checked.
- ASME: circular plate with selected attachment factor C.

FAQ
- Is this the same as the blind-flange calculator?
- No. Blind plates between flanges (§6.7.2, 0.433×d×sqrt(…)) are on /tools/blind-flange. This page is for flat covers / heads.
- Why can I override K₁ and η?
- Workbooks sometimes fix η differently from automatic h/tₛₙ rules; override matches audited spreadsheets.
- Is data uploaded?
- No—all local.
